I Versailles sono una band visual kei nata nel Marzo 2007, fondata da KAMIJO (Ex. LAREINE). Successivamente si unirono al progetto HIZAKI (chitarra), TERU (chitarra), Jasmine You (basso) e YUKI (batteria). La band ottenne subito un grandissimo successo, e nell'estate 2009 passò a major sotto la Warner Music Japan. Dopo la sfortunata vicenda della morte di Jasmine You, avvenuta il 9 Agosto 2009, la band ha deciso di portare avanti il sogno da loro iniziato, annunciando il ritorno in scena con la pubblicazione di un nuovo album (JUBILEE) e un tour mondiale. Il 4 Settembre 2010 Masashi (support bass) si è unito ufficialmente ai Versailles come 6° membro della band, poichè Jasmine You viene da questo momento considerato l'Eternal Member dei Versailles.
Nella primavera del 2011 la band tiene un mini tour europeo, e per la prima volta i Versailles si esibiscono in Italia, a Cava de' Tirreni, il 4 giugno. Nel giro di pochi mesi ritornano a suonare nel nostro paese, il 6 ottobre a Roma, in occasione dell'Holy Grail World Tour, il loro ultimo tour mondiale prima dell'annuncio di una pausa delle attività.
La band si esibisce per l'ultima volta prima dello hiatus il 20 dicembre 2012.
Il 28 dicembre 2015 si è tenuta la "Cerimonia di Rinascita" dei Versailles, allo Zepp DriverCity di Tokyo, ed è stato annunciato il ritorno della band nel 2016.
